As I am sure many of you remember, my last music video appreciation post was also about the band, Kaleo. Considering that was written three and a half years ago questions come to mind. Did I stop watching music videos? (No). Have I only seen bad music videos since that time? (No). What haven’t I posted any further about music videos?
I honestly do not know. I’m not methodical about watching music videos (or much of anything relating to this site if I’m being honest). I follow my moods and thoughts and that is why I often post in batches. Or why I will occasionally spend a day watching music videos. There is no plan and certainly no structured approach.
Which is why today I am sharing the following video from Kaleo:
Once again this band has managed (somehow!) to up the ante and deliver a music video that boggles the mind. Made during the Solar Eclipse, outside, in real time. I mean at this point it’s almost showing off. Almost. My hat is off to the people who recorded this video, I cannot imagine how challenging it was to get decent images and sound. The band continues to impress me with their willingness to go out and perform in these conditions.
After watching this video I saw another with an intriguing name – Still No Good. As I mentioned in my last post my favorite song (by far) from this band is called, No Good. Intrigued I watched the video and discovered they recorded a new version which I am sharing below:
I make no claims to be a music expert or historian but I certainly have never heard of a band rerecording a song in this manner before. It essentially sounds like a cover but done by them. What impresses me is how well the song still works, given that the energy of the original is what I like most about it.
I highly suggest checking these out and sharing them with others, this band brings me a lot of joy.
